Chef and TV Personality Tiffany Derry
With a career that spans over 20 years, Chef Tiffany Derry has become one of the most recognizable faces in the culinary industry.
The Texas native takes pride in telling the story of Southern cuisine influenced by her world travels. As the founder of Tiffany Derry Concepts and owner of Roots Chicken Shak and Roots Southern Table, Tiffany is also able to offer fans and customers a taste of her Texas roots that are grounded in fresh seasonal ingredients and unforgettable hospitality.
“My roots are Louisiana and Texas, they will always be. It’s how I am influenced,” she shares. The success and recognition of her restaurants are proof that when you stay true to who you are and your story, people will support it. “You go from being a student and no one really tells you when it’s time for you to fully show up. And I say that because when you are in culinary school, they pretty much tell you forget what you know. You know nothing. I’m going to teach you, right,” she shares about the lack of freedom of expression earlier on in her career. “I remember feeling in culinary school that southern cuisine was less than. That was the food you cooked at home. That was home food. If you really wanted to be a top-tier chef, you had to cook French.” Fast forward to here she is now and she says, “Right now Roots Southern Table is the most free that I have ever been in my career. And the most focused I’ve ever been in telling the stories that I want to tell.”
In addition to running her restaurant, sharing her love of cooking around the world and support causes near to her heart such as gender equality in the industry, you can find her as one of three titans on Bobby Flay’s new reality culinary competition, “Triple Threat,” was just renewed for a second season.
